Dubois Wyoming Fishing Wind River Mountains

June 9, 2018 by Jeramie Prine

Dubois Wyoming Fishing Wind River Mountains

Dubois Wyoming Fishing Wind River Mountains

Dubois Wyoming Fishing Wind River Mountains

Our guides have been busy scouting and guiding on Dubois waters since the Wind River itself is blown out right now. There is plenty to fish in Dubois, Wyoming if you know where to look, and it definitely helps to have a boat to access some of the mountain lakes in the Wind River Mountains. We have several trips going out in Dubois over the next few weeks and we look forward to reporting on conditions as they become more favorable.

Thanks to the locally run and owned Cutthroat Fly Shop in Dubois (website coming soon) for the great trip with the Atlanta and South Carolina crew. We had a great day on the water yesterday! If you are in Dubois, be sure to stop in the shop for all your fly fishing gear and needs.

Dubois Wyoming Fishing Kids Day

Dubois Wyoming Fishing Kids Day

Dubois Wyoming Kids Fishing Day Dubois Anglers and Wildlife Group (DAWGS) in conjunction with Wyoming Game and Fish and the Forest Service put on a fantastic day for all the kids at Pete’s Pond today for Kid’s Fishing Day.

It was so fun seeing all the young anglers learn about Wyoming fisheries and ecology of the area. It is good to see our youth enjoying the outdoors. It can only help in future conservation of our resources.

Pete’s Pond is a HUGE addition to the Dubois area and community. What a great location and wonderful use of the area. It will definitely bring a lot of happiness for many generations to come. Thank you to everyone who made this project possible! What an great community resource!

If you are interested in a guided fishing trip on the Wind River or in the Dubois area please us a note on our Contact Page or give us a call at 307-349-3331.

Bighorn River Green River Wind River Fishing Guide Report

Bighorn River Green River Wind River Fishing Guide Report

Bighorn River Green River Wind River Fishing Guide Report

Bighorn River Green River Wind River Fishing Guide Report

Bighorn River Fishing Report: What can we say? It is early summer runoff for the Bighorn River. Our water flows have gone from 1800 CFS up to 4000 CFS this week. We are seeing off colored water and a lot of moss floating in the river. Fishing is slow right now until the flows stabilize at this new level. We will probably see the Bighorn River at 4000+ CFS for the next ten days or until the runoff has subsided. We should see a more normal water year this summer unlike last year that had massive big flows. There is even talk about eventually dropping the Bighorn River to normal irrigation flows (1300-1500 CFS) as soon as runoff is over. Fishing will remain tough until the river settles down and flows stabilize. Hot flies: annelids, baetis, and attractor patterns.

Bighorn River Green River Wind River Fishing Guide Report

Green River Fishing Report: Our guides have been having good success catching Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout on the Green River near Fontenelle, Wyoming. The river has bumped up to 6500 CFS, but our guides love to fish these larger flows on the Green River and our guests have great success during this time of year. By the end of the summer, we quit guiding on the Green River due to high water temperatures. We still have plenty of great days of fishing to be had on the Green. Hot flies: baetis, sow bugs, annelids and streamers have been productive. Heads rising on the right day,

Wind River Dubois Fishing Report:  The Wind River in Dubois is starting to peak in runoff and still not really worth fishing. There is still plenty of great fishing opportunities to be had on the several tributaries of the Wind River and plenty of lakes that are fishing very well. Our guides know every nook and cranny to be fished right now and are happy to show you a few of our early season fishing spots right now. It will not be too long before the Wind River starts coming down and we are fishing it! Keep posted for more to come.

Green River Fishing Report Fontenelle Wyoming Spring Conditions

May 21, 2018 by Jeramie Prine

Green River Fishing Report Fontenelle Wyoming

Green River Fishing Report Fontenelle Wyoming

Green River Fishing Report Fontenelle Wyoming The fly fishing this spring on the Green River has been very decent. We have been enjoying fishing the Green River since February due to not as much snow in the drainage this season. With that said Green River flows are have started bumping up.

Guide Jeff Judkins  and long time guest Ed spent two days on the Green River. Fishing was very good with great weather compared to other parts of the state up north. The guys found success on a variety of flies, and blue wing olives were in full hatch with more cloud cover. The guys got into some nice and healthy Browns and Rainbows.

Green River water flows will be doubling water flows by the end of this week from 3000 cfs to 6000 cfs by Thursday May 24, 2018. To follow the most current water flows on the Green River click HERE.

Wind River Fishing Report Dubois Wyoming

Wind River Fishing Report Dubois Wyoming

Wind River Fishing Report Dubois Wyoming – We have been getting calls asking about the conditions on the upper Wind River in Dubois, Wyoming.

We have reached the beginning of runoff and the Wind River is currently blown out and probably too off color to fish. We may still get a few days of clear (er) water, but temperatures are going to have to be dry and cold for that to happen.

Our guides are focusing on the many tributaries in the Dubois area and the lakes to float and fish. For weekly updated fishing reports on the Wind River please click: Wind River Fly Fishing Reports & Conditions

Green River Fontenelle Fishing Report Wyoming

Green River Fontenelle Fishing Report Wyoming

Green River Fontenelle Fishing Report Wyoming Travis with a nice Rainbow Trout

Green River Fontenelle Fishing Report Wyoming – What a stunning end to the week fly fishing on the Green River. It is not always that you get super calm and warm weather during spring on the Green.

Conditions for fly fishing were perfect and raised water flows of 1900 CFS did not slow down the fishing. Guides Spike and Jeramie were both out and report solid fishing. Hot flies are annelids, sow bugs and baetis patterns. Rainbow and Brown Trout are healthy and hungry and eating nymphs. Whitefish were at a minimum and the river was not too crowded despite the beautiful weather.

Wyoming Fly Fishing Video Triassic Lake

April 29, 2018 by Jeramie Prine

Wyoming Fly Fishing Video Triassic Lake – Our guides and guests have been extremely pleased with their trips to Triassic Lake over the past couple of weeks. Fishing remains consistently excellent with huge fighting Rainbow Trout in numbers coming (think quantity and quality) to the boat. We have truly been blessed with great weather for all trips that went out this week. The past few days in Wyoming has been nothing but sunshine and windless. It feels great to be soaking up the sun and catching huge trout on the fly after months of winter.  Please enjoy our Wyoming Fly Fishing Video!

Bighorn River Fishing Guide Report Thermopolis Wyoming

April 23, 2018 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Fishing Guide Report Thermopolis Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Guide Report Thermopolis Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Guide Report Thermopolis Wyoming – The Bighorn River is still at 3000 CFS and it is nice to have steady flows for fishing right now. The river will bump a bit more to 3500 CFS when the runoff starts coming in. The Bureau of Reclamation is going to try to keep flows around these levels and it is not looking like it will be a very big water runoff year this year. We shall see what the rest of spring brings.

The blue wing olive hatch is in full spring hatch mode right now, and is making for some really fun opportunities to catch fish on small bwo patterns. Weather is a big factor for dry fly fishing, but most days trout are looking up. We are catching fish on nymphs too including: sow bugs, annelids, midges, and baetis patterns.

It was great to see the Wyoming Game & Fish out on the Bighorn River checking every boat for licenses, AIS stickers, lifejackets, and proper permits. It is important that if you are going to float or fish any water in Wyoming that you check all regulations prior to your trip. These rules help protect us and keep our fishery healthy and productive for all of us to enjoy. To purchase a Wyoming Fishing license online go to our RATES & INFO page and your can follow the link to complete the process. It is an easy and convenient way to purchase your fishing license.

Wyoming Private Trophy Trout Fishing at Triassic Lake

April 18, 2018 by Jeramie Prine

New in 2018, Dunoir Fishing Adventures now offers guided fly fishing trips for Wyoming private trophy trout fishing at Triassic Lake.

Now is your chance to fly fish for true trophy Rainbow Trout on a beautiful and secluded Wyoming ranch reservoir from a drift boat. Our guides have dubbed this fishery, Triassic Lake as it represents what they considered Wyoming’s version of the world famous Jurassic Lake in Argentina due to the monster Rainbow Trout and abundant bug life that inhabit this private lake. These Rainbow Trout will even eat full grown mice!

Wyoming Private Trophy Trout Fishing at Triassic Lake

The average Rainbow Trout in Triassic Lake is six pounds and 20-24 inches in length (there are no little fish in the lake). The Rainbows that lurk in Traissic are fat due to abundant underwater structure and ridiculous amount of bug life found in the reservoir. Better yet, they fight like true Rainbow Trout!

Our guides fish this lake by drift boat, but there are opportunities to get out of the boat and wade on the flats and banks as well. If you are looking to land a trophy trout of a lifetime, want to hone your fly fishing skills for big fish, or simply want an entire lake to yourself with some of the largest fish you can imagine, then spend a day with us on Triassic Lake!

For prices on this trip, please visit our RATES & INFO page.

Bighorn River Fishing Report: Thermopolis, Wyoming

April 9, 2018 by Jeramie Prine

bighorn river fishing report thermopolis wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Report Thermopolis, Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Report: Thermopolis, Wyoming; The Bighorn River water flows have recently bumped up to 3000 CFS in anticipation of spring runoff. There is only about 977 CFS flowing into Boysen Reservoir, so the Bureau of Reclamation is planning ahead. With not as much snowpack this year, the Bighorn River should not see the high water flows that we have seen in the past couple of seasons. We will see what the rest of spring brings too. We will keep you posted on any crazy weather or conditions that could pop up.

This weekend brought the first real blue wing olive hatch for the season. The dry fly fishing was the most productive with trout feeding on the surface actively. It is always a hoot to be fishing smaller dry flies so early in the season and there should only be more of the blue wing bite to come. Hot flies: annelids, eggs, midges, and blue wing olives. To see the most current Wind River/Bighorn River water flows click HERE.
