Spring fly fishing is in the air on the Bighorn River in Thermopolis, Wyoming, and the spring equinox is next week. The fly fishing has really picked up and is in great spring form as usual. It is good to be back posting fishing reports for a new season. Fishing on the Bighorn has been outstanding between thaws on Red and Buffalo Creeks. Our friend Rick was out this last week and sent us this nice photo of a beautiful brown trout. The rainbows are in spawn and we ask that anglers respect the redds (spawning grounds in shallow water/white circles in gravel) and not to walk on them or disturb them. These redds are the future to the Bighorn River fishery. Trout are eating: midges, annelids, baetis, sowbugs, and streamers. Keep posted for more reports to come!
