We had another lights out day on the Bighorn River chasing brown trout and catching some big (22″ taped) rainbows in deep runs avoiding the redds (spawning beds) at all costs. Besides, there is nothing better than catching a large healthy jawed toothed brown. In the summer these beasts can become a little more illusive, but the spring and fall are great brown trout fishing seasons. Spring Flush: We are pleased to see a spring flush on the Wind-Bighorn River starting on March 25th at 10:00 pm and increased from 475 to 1000 cfs. On March 26th at 2:00 am the release will be increased to 5000 cfs at 7:00 am for 10 hours and be reduced to 1000 cfs by March 27th. It could possibly be rescheduled and we will keep you posted on current happenings with the spring flush and water increases on the Bighorn River in Thermopolis, Wyoming. This is great news for cleaning the river and spawning beds for trout! Keep posted for more reports to come!
