We had a great day with Spencer on the Popo Agie River in Lander, Wyoming after getting chased away from another location due to a Spring storm that rolled through in the afternoon. That is one of the bonuses living in Lander is our proximity to world class fly fishing ranging from options right in town to three classic rivers, Bighorn, Green, and North Platte, all within a two-hour drive. The Popo Agie River is starting to flow and clarity is a bit off, but the Brown Trout are on the feed. We have been catching fish on annelids and streamers. Looks like trout are starting to key in on terrestrials on both the Bighorn and Green Rivers. This season our waters are not as big as last year, and the dry weather is already producing grasshoppers. For more information about early ‘hoppers check out this Casper Star Tribune Article. Bad for agriculture but good for fishing!
