The Bighorn River in Thermopolis is fishing very well and typical of spring. I had the chance to take my children out for some fly fishing on the Bighorn on Friday. The fishing was outstanding and the kiddos proved to be anglers in every sense. My daughter has perfected her hook sets and fighting big fish. She landed several pigs on her own without breaking any off. She made me very proud! Her little brother is learning and does great in the boat while patiently waiting his turn on the rod. Tonight, I ordered a kid’s fly rod and reel for my daughter. Time to pass the torch. Fishing report: The weather has been great between storms and the river is clearing up from the big melt a few weeks ago. Fly patterns this weekend included: annelids, sow bugs, midges, and streamers. The Bighorn is flowing at 484 cfs but will change once more melting has occurred. Keep posted for more reports to come.
