Wind River Fly Fishing Winter Report

December 27, 2016 by Jeramie Prine

Winter fly fishing Wind River

Wind River Fly Fishing Winter Report: Dubois, Wyoming is experiencing full on winter conditions right now. Tributaries are frozen and the Wind River on the reservation is mostly frozen or has floating ice coming down the river. There are areas near Dubois that are still fishable if you are willing to brave the cold conditions and iced guides. I had the opportunity to fish with our good friend Leon today on some private water of his. Brown trout were hungry! He has been busy guiding fishing trips. and I was fortunate enough to catch him on a day off. I am blessed to call him my friend, and experience such a great day in Wyoming.

The tailwater of the Wind River and the Bighorn River will remain to be good fishing. Midges, sowbugs, and baetis will be go to flies. We are looking forward to guided trips this next month on the Bighorn River in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Guiding on the Bighorn River in the winter is one of our specialties and favorite things to do. Warm lunch, affordable trip, and killer good fishing. Keep posted for more fishing reports to come!

Dubois, Lander, Thermopolis Fishing Report: Bighorn, Wind, and Popo Agie Rivers

DUBOIS, LANDER, THERMOPOLIS FISHING REPORT:

Bighorn and Wind Rivers: The Bighorn River flows have dropped to summer levels this last week and fishing will be improving. There is a lot of moss in the river right now, but much of that is due to the water coming down. Fish will start to pod up again and the dry fly fishing is only going to get better. The Wind River is fishing very well right now with a lot of BIG fish eating. There is very little to no moss in the Wind River making fishing great! Our weather has been outstanding with the occasional rain shower, but we have not had a full day of rain since June.

Dubois, Wyoming Fly Fishing

Dubois, Wyoming Fly Fishing

Dubois and Lander: The fly fishing in Dubois and Lander has been pretty spectacular. Our guests our catching nice browns, cutthroats, and rainbow trout. All of the rivers have come down from spring run-off and the fishing is great. We are using dry/dropper setups and finding fish eating on top and sub-surface. We love using big foam dry flies with a stonefly nymph when fishing these waters. We have been covering a lot of time on the tributaries to the Wind River and are still fishing in the lakes. The Wind River in Dubois is in prime shape right now for fly fishing. Call us today and we can set up a trip for your on any of these waters. Keep posted for more reports to come. Bighorn & Wind River Fishing Report

Wind River Brown Trout

Wind River Brown Trout

Bighorn & Wind River Fishing Report: Dunoir Fishing Adventures guides have been busy guiding on the Bighorn and Wind River. We had some pretty wet and cold weather last week with sub-par river conditions (a bit off color). Our guides made the most of the conditions and our clients toughed out the weather. The fish were hungry and the trout bite was on. We would like to thank John and Randy for a great three days on the river. Congratulations to both anglers who had no problems reeling in browns and rainbows in the 21-24 inch range. Looks like there is a bit more rain coming in this next week, but we always have somewhere good to fish. To see more photos from this last week check out our Facebook Page. Keep posted for more reports to come!

Green River-Bighorn River Fishing Reports

Green River Brown!

Green River Brown!

Green River Fishing Report: The Green River below Fontenelle is starting to pick up. Weather can be a factor this time of the year, but as we get closer to late spring the fishing is only going to get better. We had a beautiful day on the Green River recently catching a few really big rainbow and brown trout. Trout were keyed in on midges, nymphs, and streamers. Congratulations goes out to Frank with this beaut of a brown. Migratory birds and moose are being seen on the Green right now. Not a bad way to spend a day on the river getting to see such amazing wildlife and catching big trout! To see more photos check out our Dunoir Fishing Adventures Facebook Page

Bighorn River Wyoming Brown

Bighorn River Wyoming Fishing Report: Guide Todd Helms has been hitting the Bighorn everyday this week. Fly fishing since the spring flush has really improved. Big brown and cutthroat trout have been poking their heads up and feeding on hatches, making the dry fly fishing outstanding. The Wind River basin received a record amount of precipitation for the month of March. This will all trickle into the the Bighorn River and only help fishing conditions for this summer. Keep posted for more Bighorn River Reports to come later this week. To see more photos check out our Facebook Page.

Bighorn River & Dubois, Wyoming: August Fishing Report

August 30, 2015 by Jeramie Prine

Beautiful Bighorn River Brown

Beautiful Bighorn River Brown

Bighorn River & Dubois, Wyoming: August Fishing Report: The fishing around the Bighorn and Dubois have been outstanding lately. Fishing slowed down a bit on the Bighorn after they dropped the river flows for summer irrigation, but it has really picked up. The Wind River and its tributaries have been consistently good and the weather outstanding. The bears have really been making their appearance. If you are headed out fishing, we highly recommend having bear spray with you.

We would like to thank our guest, David Horsager, for a two great days on the Bighorn. David is above holding a classic Bighorn Brown. Guide, Nick Fulton, had a blast. We are in peak fishing season and will work hard to update our fishing reports. To see more photos from August, please check out our Facebook Page! Keep posted for more reports to come.

Bighorn River Fishing Spring Guide Report

April 30, 2015 by Jeramie Prine

Hailey with a nice Rainbow on the Bighorn River!

Hailey with a nice Rainbow on the Bighorn River!

Bighorn River Fishing Spring Guide Report: Guides Jeramie and RyHud had a fantastic three days on the Bighorn River with Dan, Don, and his two children, Hailey and Logan. We had an absolute blast catching fish, telling lies, and having a great time. We didn’t change flies in three days of fishing and the crew landed a lot of big rainbow and brown trout! We would like to thank the Idaho crew for spending time on the river with us, and all of the laughs and smiles. The blue wing olives are getting thick and dry fly fishing is starting to become more consistent. It looks like spring run-off in Wyoming will be minimal and quick. Our last two years of big snow and precipitation are anticipated to provide for great fishing this season.

Bighorn River Spring Flush: March 24th

March 10, 2015 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Spring Brown Trout

Bighorn River Spring Brown Trout

Bighorn River Spring Flush: March 24th, 2015. Here at Dunoir Fishing Adventures we have been receiving calls inquiring about if/when there will be a spring flush on the Bighorn River. We talked to the Bureau of Reclamation Office today, and they are tentatively planning on flushing the Bighorn River in Thermopolis starting on March 24th. Fishing can be great following the flush, but can be a challenge during the actual flush. Fish do get scattered, but if you know where to look for them your odds of catching a few big fish are good. Should this date change on the flush we will let you know immediately, so keep posted.
