Bighorn River Big Brown Trout Guides 2022

April 23, 2022 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Big Brown Trout Guides 2022

The Bighorn River is fishing really well right now. Dunoir Fishing Adventures guides and guests are catching multiple large brown trout and rainbows. There is always the chance at catching a big bruiser cutthroat trout as well, especially in the spring. Nymphing and streamer fishing has been productive. On the right day, trout are coming up to dry flies. Wyoming and the Bighorn River have been fortunate in receiving solid spring storms to help out with the dry winter. Precipitation rates and snowpack are nearing yearly average and could surpass that if storms keep moving in.

Dunoir Fishing Adventures would like to thank our guests who booked drift boat trips on the Bighorn and Green River early this year and received the “Early Bird Gets the Worm Discount.” All wade fishing trip rates in Dubois will remain the same for 2022. Wyoming Fly Fishing Spring Report: Bighorn, Green, Wind River

March 24, 2017 by Jeramie Prine

Wyoming Fly Fishing: Bighorn River Wind River

Wyoming Fly Fishing Spring Report: Bighorn, Green, Wind River

Bighorn River Fishing Report: The fly fishing on the Bighorn has been great this early spring. Guide Todd Helms had a great day fishing with The Coaches and caught their share of  nice trout! The river is flowing at 2000 cfs while work is being done. Traffic is picking up and people are excited to to float. The Spring Flush is projected for March 28th. We will keep you posted as more information is available from the Bureau of Reclamation. In April, the river will be up to 3500-4000 cfs in order to help compensate for our large snowpack/runoff. It is melting by the day at a reasonable rate, and Boysen Reservoir is currently at 85.4% full. It seems like we are in for a great year with plenty of water. Our guides have some of the best experience for big water and know how to find the sweet spots! Hot flies right now are: annelids, sow bugs, midges, and the occasional streamer.

Green River Flows Below Fontenelle Fishing Report

Green River Fishing Report: The Green River below Fontenelle is increasing the water flow this week. Fishing will be a little finicky until the river flows stabilize at a consistent flow. It is going to be a big water year, but our guides’ experience and being in drift boats make all the difference for a good day on the Green River. We have caught some of our largest trout on big water years and look forward to what this spring and early summer will bring.

According to the Bureau of Reclamation river flows will be around 2000 cfs for March. It is anticipated that the spring flush will be happening around March 28th. This is subject to change should the weather have other ideas. April water flows will be around 3000-3500 cfs. To see most current Wind/Bighorn River water flow click: HERE

Wind River Snowpack fishing guide

Wind River Absaroka Mountain Snowpack

The snowpack in the Wind River and Absaroka Mountains is quite abundant this year. It is reminiscent of 2011; the last big water year that we have experienced. The Bighorn River, Green River, and Wind River along with many waters around the state will be running full this year if snowpack is a predictor of anything. We took a scouting trip into the head of of the Wind River/Bighorn River headwaters region at the Ram’s Horn Guest Ranch. Our cabins are completely buried under huge wind blown drifts. We will continue to monitor the high country and keep you posted on those conditions.

Bighorn River Fishing Report: Thermopolis, Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Report

Bighorn River Fishing Winter Report

Bighorn River Fishing Report Thermopolis, Wyoming: Dunoir Fishing Adventures guides have been busy guiding on the Bighorn River this last week. The fly fishing has been absolutely outstanding and the weather has been wonderful for winter. There have been a few storms that have rolled in lately and that seems to slow the fishing down just a bit, but as soon as the temperatures come up so does the fishing. Guide Jeff Judkins  had three great days out with one of our favorite guests, Ed, on the Bighorn River. The fishing was lights out each day. Ed pulled in some nice trout on annelids, midges, sow bugs, and had one great day on streamers. Always fun.

Bighorn River Fishing Guides Wyoming

Bighorn River Clean Up

Guide, Todd Helms, helped out with Trout Unlimited Bighorn River Clean Up day and hauled in a boat load of trash. This is the first annual event that brought in several guides from the area and spearheaded out of Cody, Wyoming. We were happy to see this event come into fruition as it has been talked about a lot but never done. We appreciate all those volunteers who came to clean the Bighorn River up just in time for spring fishing. We know all people who will float and fish the Bighorn River this year will be happy to see how clean the river is right now!

On another note, guide Jeramie Prine, snowmobiled into the headwaters of the Bighorn River (Wind and Dunoir Rivers) this weekend and there is a tremendous amount of snow in the high country. Early summer conditions will be very interesting. More on that to come in the next report. Keep posted.

Bighorn River Fishing Report & Ice-off Starting

March 10, 2016 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Brown

Bighorn River Brown

Bighorn River Fishing Report: Dunoir Fishing Adventures guides have been busy fishing the Bighorn and dialing in spring conditions. We have been doing our best not to fish to spawning rainbows by fishing deep runs and banging the banks with streamers. The streamer bite for nice brown trout has been on! In the right conditions trout are feeding up top, keying in on midges and the occasional blue wing (still a tad early for bwo’s). Wedding of the Waters was extremely crowded this weekend making parking and unloading a boat a test in patience. Our guides decided to fish other options and found plenty of good water and satisfying runs to keep any angler happy. On a different note, the ice is starting to come off area lakes and the fishing is always phenomenal when that happens. If you are looking for a completely different fly fishing experience, try our guided lake fly fishing trips from a boat. We will put you on big trout and keep you moving…just like the trout. Check more photos out on our Facebook Page.

Welcome to 2016! Bighorn, Green, and Wind River Fishing

January 17, 2016 by Jeramie Prine

First fish of 2016!

First fish of 2016!

Dunoir Fishing Adventures would like to wish all of our friends and guests a warm welcome into 2016! We have started fishing off right in the Wind River Basin taking advantage of the cold temperatures and good ice, making for safe fishing. This last fall our fishing guides were busy, busy guiding on the Bighorn and Green Rivers, hence the lack of guide reports. Our New Year’s resolution is to keep up with reports so that you can be more informed on fishing conditions. We have a lot in store for 2016. Our guides are looking forward to being on the water with the Project Healing Waters-Platte Rivers Chapter and Wyoming Casting for Recovery in Dubois, Wyoming. These days on the water are some of the most memorable and special for our guides. We are blessed to be apart of these programs!

Bighorn River & Dubois, Wyoming: August Fishing Report

August 30, 2015 by Jeramie Prine

Beautiful Bighorn River Brown

Beautiful Bighorn River Brown

Bighorn River & Dubois, Wyoming: August Fishing Report: The fishing around the Bighorn and Dubois have been outstanding lately. Fishing slowed down a bit on the Bighorn after they dropped the river flows for summer irrigation, but it has really picked up. The Wind River and its tributaries have been consistently good and the weather outstanding. The bears have really been making their appearance. If you are headed out fishing, we highly recommend having bear spray with you.

We would like to thank our guest, David Horsager, for a two great days on the Bighorn. David is above holding a classic Bighorn Brown. Guide, Nick Fulton, had a blast. We are in peak fishing season and will work hard to update our fishing reports. To see more photos from August, please check out our Facebook Page! Keep posted for more reports to come.
