Wind River Fly Fishing Spring 2019

May 9, 2019 by Jeramie Prine

Wind River Fly Fishing Spring 2019: This last week when the flows bumped up on the Bighorn River in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Our guides headed up river to the Wind. The fishing was decent to good and moss free, which is always nice when conditions aren’t great downstream. Fish are eating nymphs, streamers, and the occasional dry fly. The trout are hungry and healthy this year, and at Dunoir Fishing Adventures we have plenty of options for fishing during challenging conditions. We have plenty of options and water to fish when conditions aren’t good on the Bighorn or Wind River. The Green River is always a great option for the spring through early July.

Wind River Fly Fishing Spring 2019

Current water flows out of Boysen Dam feeding the Wind River and Bighorn River is at 1535 cfs until about mid-month of May. From there, we can expect another bump in flows depending on how much precipitation the basin receives. We are getting normal spring cycles bringing rain and snow, but days in between have been stellar.

The Wind River in Dubois has had a bump in flows, but has come down a little bit with the cooler temperatures that came into the Wind River Basin this week.

Current Wind River & Bighorn River water flows.

Bighorn Fishing Wyoming 2019

The moss on the Bighorn River has finally settled down. The boys where out today and reported great streamer fishing, and much less mossy conditions. With the right weather it is time to hunt heads and chuck some meat. Weather is only going to get nicer by the day. We are looking forward to another great 2019 fishing season with a lot in store.

Dubois, Wyoming 30 inch Brown Trout: Fly Fishing

July 14, 2014 by Jeramie Prine

dubois_wyoming_brown_trout_on_the_fly_1_20140713_1074159255Today was an absolutely outstanding day fly fishing in Dubois, Wyoming! It was guide’s day off and Tim and I went to explore some high mountain lakes outside of Dubois, Wyoming. The lake was glassy when we arrived, but the Wind River wind decided to pick up a bit. Fishing was a bit slow until Tim hooked into this 30 inch brown trout (taped). This is hands down the largest trout that I have ever seen in the wild. Most people travel to New Zealand to catch browns like this…we have them right here in Wyoming! Tim definitely has earned a large brown like this, and I take my hat off to him. Definitely the angler of the summer. Let’s see if he can hold on to that title. Keep posted for more to come!

Dubois, Wyoming Fly Fishing Report

June 20, 2014 by Jeramie Prine

dubois_wyoming_fly_fishing_brown_trout_1_20140619_1847625106Just because the Wind River and some of its tributaries are blown out with early season run-off doesn’t mean anglers cannot take the opportunity to fish the many other waters located near Dubois, Wyoming. We have been fly fishing with Teresa and Jeff this week in snow, sun, rain, and wind and have had an absolute blast. Both Jeff and Teresa caught several nice trout despite these conditions. The SoCal couple definitely “cowboyed up” and kept tight lines and reaped the rewards. The best part of fishing in variable conditions is that we had the water to ourselves! The Bighorn River and the Green River flows are coming down but still remain high. We love to fish the big water, so don’t let it worry you should you be considering a trip to Wyoming to fish.
