Bighorn River Flush, Wind River & Green River Fishing Reports

June 2, 2020 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Flush, Wind River, Green River Fishing Reports: The big question is how is Wyoming fishing right now? We are in the height of the spring runoff and things are definitely interesting. The Bighorn River will be going through a flush this Thursday and Friday. Flows will bump from 1400 CFS to 3200 CFS to flush the moss from the river. Fishing has been great, but you have to work hard to make sure your flies are clean.  The bump in flows should significantly help with the moss situation. We will keep you posted.

We have also been running trips on the Green River near Fontenelle, Wyoming. River flows are up, but fishing is great right now. This is one of our favorite times to be on the Green River. Low crowds, great fishing, and beautiful weather (wind dependent) are the norm on the river.

The Wind River in Dubois, Wyoming is entering the height of spring runoff. It is a tough time to fish the upper Wind River, but there are plenty of still-water opportunities and soon the upper tributaries will start fishing.

For those who are interested in true trophy Rainbow Trout, now is the time to book your Triassic Lake trip! We will be guiding this private lake until the beginning of July. Clients have been catching trout in the 6-10 pound weight class and fishing is on fire!

Bighorn River & Dubois, Wyoming: August Fishing Report

August 30, 2015 by Jeramie Prine

Beautiful Bighorn River Brown

Beautiful Bighorn River Brown

Bighorn River & Dubois, Wyoming: August Fishing Report: The fishing around the Bighorn and Dubois have been outstanding lately. Fishing slowed down a bit on the Bighorn after they dropped the river flows for summer irrigation, but it has really picked up. The Wind River and its tributaries have been consistently good and the weather outstanding. The bears have really been making their appearance. If you are headed out fishing, we highly recommend having bear spray with you.

We would like to thank our guest, David Horsager, for a two great days on the Bighorn. David is above holding a classic Bighorn Brown. Guide, Nick Fulton, had a blast. We are in peak fishing season and will work hard to update our fishing reports. To see more photos from August, please check out our Facebook Page! Keep posted for more reports to come.

Wyoming Summer Fly Fishing: Thermopolis & Dubois Report

July 31, 2015 by Jeramie Prine

Wyoming Summer Fly Fishing: Thermopolis & Dubois Report: Sorry for our limited fishing reports, but Dunoir Fishing Adventures’ guides have been busy in Thermopolis and Dubois, Wyoming guide drift boat and wade fishing trips on the Bighorn, Wind River, and its tributaries. The Bighorn is now at steady summer flows of between 1200-1350 cfs. The fishing last week on the Bighorn was about as slow as we see it for fishing. Now that flows have stabilized we will see “Bighorn Good” fishing again. The Wind River below Boysen Reservoir and the Wind River and tributaries in Dubois, Wyoming are all in perfect summer form. We are focusing on dry fly fishing, terrestrials, and dropper nymphs.  Keep posted for more to come!

Bighorn & Green River Spring Fishing Report

May 27, 2015 by Jeramie Prine

May Rainbow Trout Thermopolis Wyoming

Bighorn River Thermopolis, Wyoming

Bighorn & Green River Fishing Report: This May has been fantastic fishing. We have been busy, but did get a “guides’ day off” with the Wyoming Trout Unlimited crew to send off our good friend Steven Brutger who is moving to Bozeman TU office. We will miss Steven’s enthusiasm for the outdoors, but know we will still spend plenty of time on the water and hunting with him.

Wyoming has been having a true rainy spring that has been gaining in severity as the month rolls on. Guide Nick had a trip this Sunday catching double digits for trout despite the flows bumping from 2000-3000 cfs in mid-day. Last week flows on the Bighorn River were at 950 cfs. Flows are now up to 4150 cfs today. Wind River Canyon experienced massive mud and rock slides the same day due to all the rain. It is still closed to traffic, but if you can get to Thermopolis, we can take you fishing. If you can’t make it to the Bighorn River, join us on the Green River or Dubois lakes that are starting to fish well. Guide RyHud, has been busy guiding the Green and having stellar days with more stable weather. Big trout are moving for the fly! Keep posted for more to come!

Wyoming Summer Fly Fishing on Fire!

June 29, 2014 by Jeramie Prine

bighorn_river_brown_trout_wyoming_1_20140628_1178200835Dunoir Fishing Adventures’ guides have been busy fishing in Dubois and Thermopolis, Wyoming this past week, and the fly fishing has been good to outstanding. The brown trout are active right now and lots of big hogs have been coming into the net. On the Bighorn River yesterday, Steve and Brian had a stellar day catching big fish on dry flies, nymphs, and streamers. Seemed like the fish were eating everything. Gordan and I fished a tributary to the Wind River today and it was good despite the high water. The first fish was a beautiful Yellowstone Cutthroat trout that taped in at 19 inches. The fishing in Dubois, Wyoming has been great and we have been using dry flies, streamers, and nymphs as well on those waters. The Bighorn River flows have increased again to around 2900 cfs and the Wind River is still blown out, but we always know of spots that are hot to fish. Keep posted for more to come!
