Green River & Bighorn River Fishing Report

January 31, 2017 by Jeramie Prine

Green River Fishing Report

Green River Fishing Report: Guides Jeramie and Jeff scouted the Green River below Fontenelle Dam two days ago. The boat ramps were snowed in and temperatures were cold, but the fishing was lights out! Big browns and rainbows most of the day. Hot flies include: midges, sow bugs, worms, and baetis patterns. We will be guiding multiple days on the Green River this week so keep posted.

Bighorn River Fishing Report

Bighorn River Fishing Report: The Bighorn River in Thermopolis is fishing well right now. We received a good amount of snow making ramps a bit cumbersome, but the fishing is pretty good right now. Not too many browns, but lots of rainbows. River is ice free and floatable to Hot Springs State Park. Hot flies: midges, sow bugs, worms. Keep posted for more reports to come as we are guiding in the next few days!

Bighorn River Fishing Conditions Wyoming

January 12, 2017 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Conditions Wyoming: Good news! The warm weather this week helped to defrost the river. The ice dam between Wedding of the Waters and Hot Springs State Park is now gone! There is little to no ice floating down the river and conditions are in good shape for winter fly fishing. This weekend is the last to hunt waterfowl. We had a great weekend this last week with good luck with both the cast and the blast. There was never a dull moment in the boat. Hot flies right now are worms, midges, sowbugs, and streamers. Our guides love fishing in all conditions and seasons, but winter is a whole different special. Not much traffic on the river, nice backdrop, and stellar fly fishing. We are still offering our winter special for $350 (one angler or two).

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming: WARNING! Ice dam blocking the river at the railroad trestle between Wedding of Waters and 8th Street bridge. There is currently no way to get a boat over or through the dam at this point. Floating ice from 8th Street to Hot Springs State Park Rainbow Terraces and complete ice over north of Thermopolis. Temperatures have gone from negative digits and are slowly climbing. Temperatures are supposed to climb into the 40’s this week. The ice dam should break up in those digits by this week. We will keep you posted as soon as it opens up.

Today we floated the river and had a wonderful day cast and blasting. The fly fishing and the waterfowl hunting were absolutely superb. We were able to take our boat out on private property above the ice dam enabling us to float the upper Bighorn. A huge thank you to the landowners! We boated several nice rainbows and a couple of cutthroats today and two birds in the boat. Key flies right now are midges, baetis, worms, and sowbugs. It is 2017 so don’t forget to AIS boat sticker when floating on Wyoming waters.

BIG NEWS! Bighorn River Property Dunoir Fishing Adventures

Bighorn River Fish Camp Wyoming

Bighorn River Fish Camp Wyoming

BIG NEWS! Dunoir Fishing Adventures is closing on roughly 100 acres of prime Bighorn River front property near Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The new property lends itself to great fishing, hunting, recreational opportunities, and has absolutely stunning views and access to the Bighorn River. Our new land is private and has a wilderness-like feel to it even though it is so close to Thermopolis. We have our work cut out for us and some exciting plans in the works, so please keep posted as we move forward into an exciting new chapter of our fly fishing experience. Dunoir Fishing Adventures is thankful for the opportunity to carry on our long Wyoming family legacy, and plans on passing this down to the fifth generation. We would like to thank Kirby Ditch Company Board and Tom Nelson of ReMax for all of the help in acquiring this pristine property. More photos are posted on our Facebook page.
