May 13, 2020 by Jeramie Prine

Game On Wyoming Fly Fishing: Governor, Mark Gordon has lifted the 14-day out-of-state quarantine period, and the Wyoming Game and Fish is again selling one-day, five-day, and annual fishing licenses to non-residents. Our guide service has been patiently waiting to start guiding again until these two items were lifted.

Wind River Fly Fishing Spring 2019

May 9, 2019 by Jeramie Prine

Wind River Fly Fishing Spring 2019: This last week when the flows bumped up on the Bighorn River in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Our guides headed up river to the Wind. The fishing was decent to good and moss free, which is always nice when conditions aren’t great downstream. Fish are eating nymphs, streamers, and the occasional dry fly. The trout are hungry and healthy this year, and at Dunoir Fishing Adventures we have plenty of options for fishing during challenging conditions. We have plenty of options and water to fish when conditions aren’t good on the Bighorn or Wind River. The Green River is always a great option for the spring through early July.

Wind River Fly Fishing Spring 2019

Current water flows out of Boysen Dam feeding the Wind River and Bighorn River is at 1535 cfs until about mid-month of May. From there, we can expect another bump in flows depending on how much precipitation the basin receives. We are getting normal spring cycles bringing rain and snow, but days in between have been stellar.

The Wind River in Dubois has had a bump in flows, but has come down a little bit with the cooler temperatures that came into the Wind River Basin this week.

Current Wind River & Bighorn River water flows.

Bighorn Fishing Wyoming 2019

The moss on the Bighorn River has finally settled down. The boys where out today and reported great streamer fishing, and much less mossy conditions. With the right weather it is time to hunt heads and chuck some meat. Weather is only going to get nicer by the day. We are looking forward to another great 2019 fishing season with a lot in store.

Keep posted for current fishing reports and if you would like to call or send us an email go to our CONTACT PAGE. Join our Professional. Personable. Patient. guides today in Wyoming!

Bighorn River Fishing Report: Thermopolis, Wyoming

March 13, 2018 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Fishing Report

Bighorn River Fishing Report: Thermopolis, Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Report: Thermopolis, Wyoming: No Spring Flush this year on the Bighorn River according to the Chief of Water Operations. Typically, every March the Bureau of Reclamation will conduct a spring flush to wash out sediment and debris from the river to help with spawning and trout habitat. However, due to the high water we have seen this last year and through the winter there is not a need to have a spring flush. River flows are projected to increase to 2000 CFS in the next few days and will probably reach 3000 CFS by the end of the month. River flows from then on will be highly dependent on what spring will bring with moisture and melt.

Current water flows: Wind River/Bighorn River

Fishing on the Bighorn River has steadily gotten better from the middle of winter. Warmer weather is helping the fishing and bringing quite a few anglers eager to shake the cabin fever to the river.  We ask fishermen to avoid fishing to podded up rainbow trout on their redds (spawning beds) in shallow water. Fish the drop offs and deeper runs and you will catch just as many fish. Hot flies right now include: sow bugs, midges, annelids, leeches

Happy New Year from Wyoming 2018 Fishing Season is Here!

January 7, 2018 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Fishing Guides

Bighorn River Wyoming Winter Fishing

Bighorn River, Green River, Dubois Fly Fishing Report: Happy New Year and we are looking forward to a fishy 2018 season! We had a very busy fall guiding and hunting. 2018 has officially started and we are looking forward to upcoming trips on the Bighorn River and Green River.

Bighorn River: Thermopolis, Wyoming: The Bighorn River flows have finally stabilized at 1252 CFS. Boysen Reservoir is currently 88% full and the Bureau of Reclamation is letting more water out than inflow. Water flows were all over the place this fall and it is nice to have some stability. The Bighorn is floatable and fishable right now, but is high for winter season. Might be tough to place decoys for the waterfowl hunters, but for fishing, we like higher water levels. Keep posted as we have trips going out on the Bighorn River.

Green River: Fontenelle, Wyoming: We are looking forward to getting back on the Green River for the 2018 season. What a BIG water year it was on the Green River! Fishing remained good despite large river flows this season. We have not been on the Green River since November and are really looking forward to upcoming trips! River flows are at 1700 cfs and on a calm day the fishing can be outstanding. Keep posted for upcoming reports on the Green River below Fontenelle, Wyoming.

Dubois & Wind River, Wyoming: The Wind River in Dubois, Wyoming is fishable on the right day. The river is about the best it has looked all season. It was a big water year in Dubois as well, but we had plenty of water to fish despite the challenging conditions on the Wind River. Our friend and guide Leon has been having some good days on the Wind this season. Temperatures and winds have been pretty harsh in Fremont County, but on the right day the fishing can be stellar.

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming River Flows

March 6, 2017 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming River Flows: The Bighorn River flows are starting to bump up due to the amount of snow in the Wind River and Owl Creek Mountains. Flows have ramped up from 900 to 1525 cfs as of today. Boysen Reservoir is currently 88.8% at capacity. It is expected that the river will soon be up to 2100 cfs. Keep posted to see when the Spring Flush will be happening. It will be this month and more info coming tomorrow. To see most current releases from Boysen Dam: Wind River and Bighorn Rivers click HERE.  The Bighorn River was off color and had quite a bit of moss floating in it yesterday, but the weather, company and fishing were great. The moss and clarity will only get better as the river flows stabilize. Hot flies: annelids, sow bugs, streamers. Keep posted for Green River water flow information coming soon. It is going to be a big water year!

Bighorn River, Wind River, Green River Fishing Reports

February 13, 2017 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn and Wind River Fishing Report

Bighorn River & Wind River Fishing Report: Last week with the sudden heating up in the weather, the Bighorn River was chocolate milk from Buffalo Creek to north of town. This weekend the Bighorn River cleared up and the fishing was pretty good. Standard winter, spring flies are pulling fish right now. Think annelids, sow bugs, and midge patterns. There is the occasional blue-wing olive hatching, but the big hatch has not started just yet. The Wind River below Boysen dam boat ramps are super hairy right now and the fishing is only so-so. The cold temperatures seem to be putting the fish down and has them holding in deep water. Heads up that there will be a Bighorn River Cleanup Day this Sunday, February 19, 2017. There will be lots of boats and clean up crews on the water.

Green River Fontenelle Fishing Report

Green River Fontenelle Fishing Report: The fishing on the Green River below Fontenelle has been pretty darn good for mid-winter. Fishing has been lights out in the mornings and then slowing up in the afternoons when the air temperatures begin to drop. We had several great days over on the Green River last week with long time guest, Ed. Hot flies were: annelids, sow bugs, and midges. We definitely got luck with little to no wind and clear, sunny skies. Boat ramps are still really tricky and just plan on getting stuck a time or two. There have been lots of wade fisherman out trying to shake cabin fever. What a great place to do just that. Get out and enjoy some winter Wyoming fly fishing!

Bighorn River Wyoming Fishing Report

Bighorn River Fishing Report Wyoming

Bighorn River Wyoming Fishing Report: Temperatures have been cold and we have been receiving some snow. It looks like warm weather is on the way in the next few days. The river is floatable and fishable, especially on a little warmer day. Should the river become iced up on the Bighorn, Dunoir Fishing Adventures is one of three guide services that are permitted to float the Wind River below Boysen Dam.  There is always someplace for our guides to float and fish. Hot flies include: sow bugs, annelids, and midges. Streamers have been pretty decent too. We have guided trips coming up and boats going out in a few days. Keep posted for more fishing reports from the Bighorn River in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The river is definitely not crowded right now, and it is great to shake the cabin fever!

Bighorn & Wind River Fishing Report

May 5, 2016 by Jeramie Prine

Wind River Brown Trout

Wind River Brown Trout

Bighorn & Wind River Fishing Report: Dunoir Fishing Adventures guides have been busy guiding on the Bighorn and Wind River. We had some pretty wet and cold weather last week with sub-par river conditions (a bit off color). Our guides made the most of the conditions and our clients toughed out the weather. The fish were hungry and the trout bite was on. We would like to thank John and Randy for a great three days on the river. Congratulations to both anglers who had no problems reeling in browns and rainbows in the 21-24 inch range. Looks like there is a bit more rain coming in this next week, but we always have somewhere good to fish. To see more photos from this last week check out our Facebook Page. Keep posted for more reports to come!

Bighorn River Wyoming Spring Flush

March 2, 2016 by Jeramie Prine

Bighorn River Cutthroat-guide Rick Mickelsen

Bighorn River Cutthroat-guide Rick Mickelsen

Bighorn River Wyoming Spring Flush: The Bureau of Reclamation; Boysen Dam is tentatively planning on a spring flush March 21-22, 2016 on the Wind/Bighorn River. We will keep readers posted should these dates change, so keep posted. We are happy to see that the river will be flushed and can help clean up the river and spawning beds. Rainbows are currently spawning.

Bighorn River Fishing Report: The fishing was good this weekend, but the strong winds definitely played a role in drifting and catching. When the wind wasn’t blowin’, the trout were biting! Rainbow trout are spawning and actively on their redds. We kindly ask anglers fishing the Bighorn right now to please not fish to these spawning beds, but fish below in deep water. Definitely do not walk on them. Successful flies: annelids, midges, and sow bug. Keep posted for more reports to come!
