Dubois, Lander, Thermopolis Fishing Report: Bighorn, Wind, and Popo Agie Rivers

July 10, 2016 by Jeramie Prine

DUBOIS, LANDER, THERMOPOLIS FISHING REPORT:

Bighorn and Wind Rivers: The Bighorn River flows have dropped to summer levels this last week and fishing will be improving. There is a lot of moss in the river right now, but much of that is due to the water coming down. Fish will start to pod up again and the dry fly fishing is only going to get better. The Wind River is fishing very well right now with a lot of BIG fish eating. There is very little to no moss in the Wind River making fishing great! Our weather has been outstanding with the occasional rain shower, but we have not had a full day of rain since June.

Dubois, Wyoming Fly Fishing

Dubois and Lander: The fly fishing in Dubois and Lander has been pretty spectacular. Our guests our catching nice browns, cutthroats, and rainbow trout. All of the rivers have come down from spring run-off and the fishing is great. We are using dry/dropper setups and finding fish eating on top and sub-surface. We love using big foam dry flies with a stonefly nymph when fishing these waters. We have been covering a lot of time on the tributaries to the Wind River and are still fishing in the lakes. The Wind River in Dubois is in prime shape right now for fly fishing. Call us today and we can set up a trip for your on any of these waters. Keep posted for more reports to come. Fall Fly Fishing in WY: Bighorn River Report

September 16, 2014 by Jeramie Prine

fall_fly_fishing_bighorn_river_thermopolis_wy_1_20140915_1051720696The fall season fly fishing in Wyoming is starting off very strong! The past few weeks on the Wind and Bighorn River have been absolutely lights out! Guides RyHud, Spike, and myself have been keeping our nets wet and the oars working in cooler temperatures. I think that the larger water this year has really helped the fish in the river keeping water temperatures down. We did have our first snow of the season this last week, but it was short lived. Temperatures have been back up to the 70’s and 80’s with chilly nights. Looks like we will start guiding the Green River below Fontenelle this next month, which will be perfect for big rainbows and browns. End of Summer: Dubois & Thermopolis Fishing Report

August 26, 2014 by Jeramie Prine

wyoming_summer_fly_fishing_dubois__thermopolis_1_20140825_1814809445We are reaching the end of summer here in Wyoming and our guides have been super busy on the rivers and lakes since our last report. The fly fishing has been absolutely outstanding despite the Wind River in Dubois being blown out for the summer. The Wind should be ready as soon as our rainstorms subside. The tributaries have fished as well as I have ever seen them. The Bighorn River has been fishing in full summer mode with the trout hiding out in different locations. We have ditched the indicator for dry-dropper set-ups and streamers, and have caught some phenomenal trout. Tricos still hatching for the time being. We are looking forward to fishing this fall! The big waters are going to yield plentiful and big trout. Fall is one of our favorite times to go fishing, so give us a call! To see more photos from mid-end of summer check out our Facebook Page!
